Protocol15 Facilitator Interventions

Facilitators should intervene to protect discussion quality, not to steer teams toward correct rankings.

If One Person Dominates

Say: "Pause before the next edit. Let us hear from someone who has not controlled the list yet. What item do you think the team may be underestimating?" Avoid telling the team which item is actually overvalued.

If Control Does Not Transfer

Say: "Make your change, explain the reason, then release control so someone else can continue." Treat the control transfer as decision-process data, not a technical problem.

If The Team Gets Stuck

Say: "You do not need perfect certainty. You need a team decision you can commit to." Avoid giving hints about the expert ranking.

If The Team Agrees Too Quickly

Say: "Before you lock this in, what is the strongest argument against your current top three?"

If Discussion Becomes Too Abstract

Say: "Bring it back to the scenario. What problem are you solving first: survival, movement, navigation, or rescue?"

If Time Is Running Out

Say: "You have limited time. Decide what you are willing to be wrong about."

If A Participant Is Quiet

Say: "I want to pause for one more perspective. What would you move higher or lower?"
